Scripture for Today: Mat. 6:12 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. (KJV)Word for Today
Man’s redemption and reconciliation with God is based on divine mercy through the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus. God’s unconditional forgiveness is the reason a believer in Christ is accepted in God’s earthly family and kingdom. Therefore, it is God’s will that you forgive those who have hurt or sinned against you. Psalm 103 verse 3 states that if God should mark our sins or iniquities no one would be able to stand before Him. But, because He loves man, He sent His only begotten Son Jesus Christ to die for us while we were still sinners (Rom. 5:8), thereby teaching us to forgive others unconditionally. There are many instructions in the Bible regarding the importance of forgiveness in the life of a child of God. No matter your age or religious status, if you don’t sincerely forgive those who offended or sinned against you, your faith in God and practice of religion is vain. As a child of God, you are saved because God forgave your sins; He expects you to forgive others. The servant that failed to forgive his fellow servant, paid for it (Mat. 18:28-38). This shows that unwillingness to forgive exposes a person to different types of physical and spiritual torment. In Mark 11:25, the Lord teaches us that failure to forgive others will hinder our prayers because God will not forgive anyone who refuses to forgive others. This means that as a child of God, you must live a life that is without offences, anger and bitterness towards anyone because this determines the condition of your relationship with your heavenly Father. To forgive is an act of mercy (Mat. 5:7). Child of God, in God’s kingdom, bearing grudges, offences, keeping malice, bitterness and anger in your heart is a mark of ungodliness; they are spiritually dangerous traits to harbour and will cost you God’s blessings on earth and deny you eternity in heaven (Col. 3:8, 12-15). Decision: I shall sincerely forgive everyone who has offended me. Prayer: Lord Jesus, give me the grace to maintain a pure and forgiving heart. Declaration: Receive God’s grace to live without offences in Jesus Name! Amen. God bless you. Pastor Alex. Obioha. NB: Please, if this has blessed you, send to others to bless them as well.
