12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. (KJV)Word for Today
One of the important principles of warfare, whether spiritual or conventional is the need to have proper knowledge of your enemy. Our Lord Jesus illustrated this when He said that a king, who is planning to go to war with another king, should first of all assess and consider if he would be able to face the military might of his enemy (Lk. 14:31-32). Therefore, the aim of this message is to expose your spiritual enemies and arm you for victory. As we continue to x-ray the spiritual enemies we wrestle with, today, we shall consider the rulers of the darkness of this world. These demonic rulers are the next in rank to the powers. As their group name implies, they are the spirits which rule and control the activities of all cults, mysterious and false religions, and other such societies through which they attract and bind men’s souls to Satan. The rulers of the darkness of this world have direct contact with human beings because they work together with people to execute their purposes for the devil. The last group in the demonic hierarchy are called spiritual wickedness in high or heavenly places. Members of this group are like the foot soldiers of the devil’s kingdom. They are spirits, and sub-servient spirits who roam around the earth to practice wickedness against human beings. Just like the rulers, there are many human beings working for the devil in this group. As their name implies, they operate in high and low places, spiritually and physically. They also hate human beings passionately, especially Christians. Beloved, all these enemy forces, including Satan their master, have been defeated by the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord demonstrated their defeat on the Cross, in the grave and in hell; He made a public show of them (Mt. 27:50-53; Col. 2:15). Therefore, there is nothing to be afraid of because you have spiritual authority over Satan and all the principalities and powers; you have authority to destroy their works, and bind and cast them out. The Bible says that the devil shall flee when you resist him (Jam. 4:7). Decision: In the name of Jesus, I shall resist the devil and overcome him in my life. Prayer: Lord Jesus, use me to destroy the powers and works of the devil. Declaration: Receive power to overcome and cast out devils in Jesus’ Name. Amen. God bless you. Pastor Alex Obioha.
